WHAT HAPPENED?
Williams was close to sealing a £50 million ($68m) move to La Liga's champions but announced a stunning U-turn this week, instead opting to a sign a new 10-year deal with Athletic. It has now been revealed by that his new release clause sits at €100m (£86m/$118m).

It has been reported by that Williams turned down the move to Barca because the club would not guarantee him an exit if they were unable to register him for La Liga. They had offered Dani Olmo that clause last year but refused Williams the same.
